Formal Valuations
Morphets valuation service for probate and inheritance tax
Morphets offer a confidential and professional valuation service to solicitors, executors, trustees and private clients.
We will respond quickly to requests for probate valuations with a senior valuer attending to take an inventory of the personal property. From this, a full valuation, on the basis of open market value, will be prepared for use in obtaining grant of probate.
Further copies of the valuation can be made available to assist executors in the identification and dispersal of bequests, items to be retained by family members and any residual contents for consignment to auction. Care is taken to provide this service with the minimum of intrusion at a time of bereavement.
Valuations for insurance
Most people insure the contents of their home but few seek professional advice as to the accurate replacement value of their items.
Whether a single item, collection or full household, an inventory will be provided with detailed description and digital images where appropriate. This may well be vital in identifying stolen items and assisting in a successful claim.
Valuations for family division, tax planning and private treaty sales
An independent valuation of assets may assist when dividing property amongst family; the basis of this valuation would be at open market value.
A valuation of assets may assist your Financial Advisor and come in useful when gifting under the seven-year rule and assessing your future tax liabilities.
An occasion may arise when you require an independent value to enable a fair price to be arrived at for the sale of an item by private treaty.
Valuation Charges
The minimum charge for a formal written valuation is £150 (1 hour) and £75 pro rata per hour thereafter subject to VAT at the current rate.
