A 19th c fixed feather fan from South America, contained in a shaped box bearing the retailer’s details, one Mlles M & E Natté, 44 Rua do Ouvidor, Rio de Janiro the fan with plain bone handle mounted with pale pink feathers and white marabou in the centre, applied with fabric flowers and leaves and a small bird, the verso with less additions but pink feathers attractively arranged in concentric circles, overall height approx. 43 cm; together with two similar but smaller fans, with white feathers, one with a carved bone handle the other with a plain handle ( 3 + box.

More Information

The box is complete but damaged. One side of the pink fan is faded. Loss to the feathers on the remaining fans and both handles appear to be shortened. The box label is intact, whereas often these are missing.
