Feather fans: Two ostrich feather fans, the first black, with curly feathers and additional feather on top of the upper guard, tortoiseshell monture and loop, height approx. 46 cm, span 72 cm; together with a female ostrich feather fan, with additional feather to the upper guard, tortoiseshell monture, height approx. 40 cm span 66 cm, and two 19th century marquetry feather fans, using game feathers, the first and slightly larger example worked in concentric bands and using red spotted feathers as well as pheasant and others, mounted on faux tortoiseshell, height approx. 19 cm; together with a fan with guards that close over the feathers and click shut, forming a handle when the fan is open, the feathers quite artfully arranged to give a fluid and scalloped design to the lower band, offset by plain light blue trimmed feathers to the upper band, height approx. 11.5 cm (4) (Shipping category E)
The first fan is in good condition. The second needs attention to the feather spacing, and one feather is present but detached from the gorge stick. Both marquetry fans have some feather loss, retained where available. The smaller fan has one stick requiring attachment, as does the first fan.
