A varied selection of 19th and 20th century fans, comprising a very large example with black wood monture and plain black glazed cotton leaf, the same recto/verso, guard approx. 43 cm ; together with a smaller plain fan with white nylon leaf and wood sticks painted white; a c 1850/60’s bone fan, the monture carved and lightly pierced, gilded, the double paper leaf lithographed, the recto portraying a musical gathering of three well-dressed gentleman and one lady, the reserves with strong gold on cream featuring classical stone arches and windows with familial blazons incorporated, the verso with two ladies and a gentleman seated outdoors, the reserves a strong navy blue with gold scrolling and foliage, each side featuring two birds, guard approx. 27 cm; another fan with bone monture, lightly incised, the cream silk leaf painted with a spray of pink blossom, guard approx. 29.5 cm, and a smaller fan in undyed wood, the leaf mounted à l’anglaise, painted with a scene of Spaniards wearing floral shawls taking refreshments, the distinctive Giralda tower in Seville in the background (5) (Shipping category D)
