The Spring Fans and Finery auction features unusual needlework in the form of 18th c samplers, band and otherwise, and an exquisitely detailed picture showing a snapshot of the social history of the 19th century. World textiles and robes from China, Africa and Asia provide colour and variety, and an array of European costumes spanning 100 years have been consigned by a local collector. As usual the fan section features good Chinese examples, an Royal/historical fan, the 19th and 20th centuries being represented by unusual European montures and a good range of French advertising fans.
