An early 19th century needlework sampler by Maria Ann Rayden, finished 20th December 1804, silk threads on canvas, tightly worked with bands of the alphabet and numbers, and the classic verse commencing “Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand”, and a border of strawberries, mounted on wood, previously framed, approx. 32cm by 31 cm. Some nibbles to the canvas, discoloration to the outer edge where the frame was previously, and outer edges now raw.
