A very fine German carved wood monture, perhaps Bavaria, late 19th century, both guards applied with silver metal initials, the gorge sticks completely plain, the guards carved in high relief with grapes and vine leaves, guard approx. 35 cm; together with a late 19th century black wood fan, the monture lightly incised, the black fabric leaf painted with a young lady in earlier costume standing in front of the fireplace, on a patterned rug, with aspidistra on a side table and ornate clock and candelabra on the mantelpiece, artist’s initials present but indistinct, guard approx. 29 cm; another painted fan on plain black wood sticks, the silk leaf showing a procession of young couples on their way to or from a musical gathering, or dance, led by a musician, no signature noted, guard approx. 29 cm, and the upper section of a cockade fan, in black wood, with fitments but lacking handle (4)(Shipping category C)
The monture has probably been apart to remove the leaf as the gorge sticks are not in the right order, see head. All appear present. The painted fans are in fair to good condition, see images.
