A very rare pair of beaded 19th century hand screens or fixed fans, the screens mounted on turned wood handles, gilded, the fan formed from two layers of thick card in the form of a flowerhead, the upper layer cut away to house small shaped panels of beadwork embroidered with flowers, and leaves, all different designs, the centre of punched card, again embroidered, tiny beads, a gilded painted motif embellishing the dark green upper panel, the recto covered in sage green embossed paper (2)
One fan is complete, slightly rubbed at the edges, with a little loss of paper to the edge on the verso. The second fan is deconstructed, those parts present being a section of the dark green card and a selection of beaded panels
