An Art Nouveau fan, in ballon form, the shaped monture of blonde tortoiseshell, note the shapes when closed and on its side, the gorge gilded, the leaf a base of gold lamé fabric overlaid with silk in such a way as to leave peephole possibilities, painted with a lady and her suitor in 18th century dress, in a wildflower meadow, signed s. Tarazo?, larger flowers and leaves filling the section to the right, fitted with a yellow metal loop with dark blue stones, the leaf mounted à l’anglaise, the ribs painted in gold reminiscent of E. Kees, contained in a cream card fan box covered in cream silk, marked for Duvelleroy, Regent St, London, manufactured in Paris, overall height approx. 25.5 cm (Shipping category C)
The monture appears in good order. The leaf lacks some of the gold edging. The lamé fabric is slightly damaged around the centre bottom of the leaf and is a little strained next to the upper guard. The silk on the box is worn and the lid is damaged at each end.
