A selection of small brisé fans: a brisé fan advertising Victoria Luise, a shield on the lower guard with initials HAPAG, a cruise ship company, the recto with a map of the Westindienfahrt or West Indies (Prinzessin Victoria Luise was the World's first purpose-built cruise ship. She was built in Germany, and launched in 1900 for Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) ; together with a celluloid example with a dancer painted in the central panel, the reserves boldly painted in gold, these sticks pierced with stars, guard approx. 14cm; a celluloid brisé with pierced sticks, guard approx. 12cm; a larger celluloid brisé, similar, guard approx. 15cm; a celluloid example painted with butterflies in flight over water, guard approx. 13.5 cm; a celluloid fan, , pierced at the tips with a touch of red within the design, a further central painting of winter branches, guard approx. 11 cm; and a brisé fan advertising a sanitorium, the sticks embellished with silver sequins and silver paint (7) (Shipping category D)
All in generally good condition, the sanitorium fan attribution is hard to read, one fan has a broken loop and another’s ribbon needs attention
