The Posy Fan! A very scarce fan that is seldom seen, this fan has a specific construction that permits the user to open as a folding fan but when closed, the flowers encircle the fan and form a posy. This construction was patented in 1894, see page 131 of the recent publication “Fans” by Mary Cooper, this example with dark wood sticks, and shades of purple, cream violet for the fabric flowers, the leaves mid-green, with yellow stamens, the flowers being stitched to the base leaf, in purple, which is lilac cotton, overall height approx. 22 cm. (Shipping category C)
In fairly good condition, some of the flowers may have been restitched to the fabric, and they would benefit from steaming to revive the shape.
