Two mid-19th century fans, the first with carved and pierced wood sticks, painted in gold, the cream silk leaf painted en grisaille, a water front scene but bleak, with a rocky outcrop and waterfall, the verso with a large blazon, shield-shaped in blue, a lion rampant at either side, initials and animal heads in the four quarters of the shield, a crown above, guard approx. 27 cm; together with a second fan, carved and pierced bone monture, gilded, the double paper leaf lithographed, the recto featuring gentle folk in sumptuous 18th century dress, in the grounds of a grand country house, beside a lake, the boatman waiting to carry them across the water, the verso showing a suitor approaching a maiden, her friend present, smaller buildings in the background, guard approx. 27 cm (2) (Shipping category C)
