Chinese wood lacquered boxes, 19th century, in which large fringed embroidered silk shawls or robes, were sold: both with period annotations on the back, the first very large, hinged, with keyhole, the lacquer mid-brown, painted in several shades of gold, featuring a family gathering in a garden in front of a very decorative summer house, two figures carrying fans, water to the foreground, approx. 56 cm by 55 cm, 8 cm deep, together with a smaller box lacquered in black, painted in gold with a couple on a terrace at the edge of water, approx. 45 cm square, 4.5 cm deep (2)
The first box is warped and the hinges detached. Inner painted panel in good condition but damage to the main body of the box. Key not present
