AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY SAMPLER by Eliza Peacock Her Work Aged 13 Years 1836, in coloured silks on linen, with Temple of Fame in a surround of flowering trees, baskets of flowers, birds, windmills, huntsmen and hound, cottage, butterflies, crowns, swans, deer and sheep, text, within a flory and counter flory border, 62cm x 38cm
A Favourite Lot -
Top right corner there is a hole, 1cm x 0.5cm.
Parrot - left top - two small holes.
Top right side edge small hole in the flower.
Butterfly right of temple. Small hole on edge of wing.
Small hole just below temple.
Hound - some disruption to cloth - possibly a very fine repair or a slub in the linen, some threads missing but not a hole.
Main flower display lower down, two holes below stem on left.
Right edge small hole.
Two small holes in the deer on left hand side and one flower left corners. Strong rich colours, well worked and designed.
