WORKSHOP OF ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON OF KILBURN, a pair of carved English oak owl bookends, each standing, holding a mouse under it's claw. 17cm high x 11cm wide x 11cm deep
There is no damage or loss to either owl or mouse. Below is a detailed list of superficial cracks, mainly on the back and base, it reads worse than it is!
Left Hand Owl
The upright has a thin crack on the right hand corner approximately 6cm vertical. Couple of old dents on the back face of the upright. Left hand side has a full length thin crack in the depth of the back. There is a closed line or crack vertical on front edge of the base. There is a crack on the right hand corner of the front edge of the base. There is a fine crack running with the radials on the top of the owl's head, 5cm.
Right Hand Owl
The front of the upright has two fine cracks, vertical on right hand side. The base has two short vertical cracks on right hand corner, 1cm and 0.75cm. Right hand side has two parallel cracks adjacent to the back. The grain has opened slightly, just below the right eye.
