AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY SAMPLER worked by Sarah Coulston Aged 11 Years 1836, in shades of brown and olive green silks on linen, with a house, baskets of flowering branches, birds in fruit trees, and a flory and counterflory border, 44cm x 39cm

There are several holes in the linen. One on the top edge third flower along. Small hole third flower down on left. Small hole above flowering tree mid left side. One hole third flower up from left corner. Several small holes along lower edge right of mid point. Three tiny holes around first flower lower right. Hole to right hand side fifth flower down. Two holes between first and second verse, one hole beneath 'due'. Colours have faded a little but not much. There is a little bit of bleeding of colour in places. Some mottled discolouration to linen mainly to sides.
