A GEORGE II GILTWOOD AND GESSO WALL MIRROR IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE, c1718-1779, the oval glass within a surround of finely carved 'C' scrolls, flower heads and leafage, conforming crest and apron, c1760, approximate 114cm high x 68cm wide
The wood sections that create the oval frame have opened up at the joints. There is silvering to the top and right edge of the glass. There are leaf tips missing and restored to the top of the cresting. Further joins to the surround have opened. There are numerous small losses and knocks throughout but nothing major. Overall condition is commensurate with age.
Old family provenance, passed down from large country property.
