A selection of mainly 1890’s fans, and a black silk/embroidered fan sheath: a large black wood fan mounted with a leaf of black silk sain, embroidered in floss silk, the upper border with the addition of white feathers; a similar silk satin fan painted with vibrant flowers; a third black wood fan, the leaf of black gauze, painted with sunflowers and edged with black machine lace; a wood fan with gold painted sticks, cream silk satin leaf edged with marabou, painted with a bee and roses; a wood fan mounted with a shaped ruby silk leaf, painted with leaves and white blossom, and frequented by stag beetles, butterflies and a ladybird; and a very large wood fan, the silk satin leaf painted with two well-dressed ladies watching two winged cherubs erecting a hammock, the upper edge with cream machine lace, the painting continuing onto the gorge (7)
