£50
A 19th century horn brisé fan, carved and pierced, with barrel head, twenty-one inner sticks and two guards, lightly painted recto/verso, one side with a lady listening to a harpist, the other hard to define; together with a white mother of pearl fan, the monture gilded, the silk gauze leaf painted with two ladies, the reserves embellished with flowers, swags and tiny sequins, boxed; a large pale horn fan, the gauze leaf extensively decorated with bands of pink ribbon work, painted flowers and small silver and gold sequins, mounted à l’anglaise, contained in a non-original blue card fan box, and a cream silk fan sheath edged with braid and adorned with fabric flowers and leaves (4)
The painting on the brisé is well rubbed so as to be difficult to determine. The mop fan has a broken rib and the lower border centrally is damaged, below a completely split fold. The sheath is lightly soiled and the flowers would benefit from steaming.
