MIYABE ATSUYOSHI OF KYOTO (Act 1850-1900) MEIJI PERIOD, A Japanese inlaid bronze vase of conical form resting on three small feet, cast, chased and inlaid with herons in flight over pine trees and fishing boats, signed to the base Dai Nihon Kyoto (no) Ju Ikkado Miyabe Atsuyoshi with Kao, 10cm high x 16cm diameter, with hard wood stand. Miyabe Atsuyoshi was a master bronze smith who lived in Kyoto, he exhibited at home and abroad at the turn of the century including the World's Fair at St Louis in 1904.
No dents or splits. The sails of the two junks are showing signs of rubbing to the gilt. There is a paler colour to the bronze around the heron in flight. Wear to tips of the three feet underside.
